Kamisaka Sekka was born in Kyoto into a samurai family. That could have been enough to make him look straight out of a movie! But her story doesn't end there...
While all of France was ecstatic over the works that reached them from Japan - including artists like Claude Monet - Kamisaka Sekka, a young painter already renowned in his country, came to study art in Europe. He is passionate about the modernity of technical processes and Art Nouveau.
His works become refined and graphic. While maintaining the traditional themes of Japanese painting, incisive strokes and colors are kept to a minimum and chosen with care and accuracy.
Kamisaka Sekka is considered today as the last master of Japanese prints. A magnificent and unmissable final bouquet to centuries of tradition that we wanted to share with you.
